I always had a fixation with looks and eyes, nothing very original, actually; so when I delved into the world of embroidery, my first idea was to create a series of embroidered glances. The first one I sketched was Gualicho, which I haven’t yet materialized in threads due to size issues.
Mal de ojo emerged later, because I was eager to experiment with the technique. It’s a 30 cm diameter punch needle embroidery.
Mal de ojo has been exhibited twice in open exhibitions at Espacio Rodó and La Pintora, in Montevideo, Uruguay. My idea, however, is for this series to grow with more textile art pieces and to be able to hold an individual exhibition.
